No. 2 seed Ivo Karlovic of Croatia attempts to earn his fifth career ATP World Tour title on his 31st birthday

The big-serving Karlovic, who leads the ATP World Tour in aces this season, has fired a tournamenthigh
75 this week while Gulbis follows with 42. Both players have combined to hold serve 83 of 87 games this
week with Karlovic holding 46 of 47 and Gulbis 37 of 40 games. Gulbis has not dropped a set while Karlovic
has lost only one en route to the title match.
Karlovic is trying to become the oldest winner and first Croat to win the title in tournament history (since 1993). Gulbis is looking to become the second first-time winner on the ATP World Tour this season, joining American John Isner who won in Auckland last month. Players trying to win their first title are 1-4 in finals this year.
