Steve Whiteley, a heating engineer from North Tawton, Devon, took a chance and won himself a nice £1.4 million from a £2 bet at Exeter Racecourse on Tuesday.

Whiteley, 61, placed £2 on the Tote Jackpot and successfully managed to pick all six winning horses, entitling him to a staggering £1,445,671.71!

Admitting to not being a horse-racing man, Whiteley based his selection on names that hung in his head!  Whiteley backed the favourite Semi Colon at 2/1, Black Phantom (12/1), Ammunition (16/1), Mr Bennett (16/1), Lundy Sky (5/1) and finally Lupita (12/1).

Steve and his wife Jill plan to celebrate with a nice holiday to Australia.

I Can’t help but think that if Paul the Octopus was still alive England could have saved a little face whilst bidding for the 2018 World Cup.

Apparently Prince William is annoyed he was schmoozing up to two faced FIFA officials whilst they apparently knew Russia  had already won! The BBC are still taking most of the blame after airing the recent Panorama episode which implied FIFA officials had taken bribes in the 90′s.  Personally I think the English are just not liked anymore, the words ‘nil point’ ring out in my mind when it comes to one of the most controvertial events in Europe ‘The Eurovision song contest’ if that doesn’t tell you other European countries have a certain distaste for our country then what will?

What I don’t understand is – What is it that they don’t like?

Here are a few things we have in England that make me proud and please feel free to add as many as you like -

The Beatles , Shakespeare, Fish and Chips, Sir Winston Churchill, A Cup of Tea, The Queen, The NHS, Democracy, Wimbledon, Rolls-Royce.

Please tell us what you love about being English……

The time has almost arrived for the long awaited Ashes Series where the English and Australian’s battle it out for the prestigious tiny urn.  England have  looked  in decent form during their warm up matches Down Under, whilst the Australian top-order batsman have been dismissed cheaply in their final warm up match in the Sheffield Shield.

We think Ponting has been too busy thinking of his post ashes excuses when the Australians are beaten, as usual we can expect some sort of outrageous moans or complaints from the Captain. Our Cricket traders are pretty sure England have the perfect opportunity to embarrass the Aussie on their home turf and retain the ashes. What do you think?

We are offering numerous markets this year and will be In-Running on every Test match throughout the Series so make sure betinternet.com is your place for all your cricketing bets!
